According to Legendary Pictures, Ferrell will play a star of an e-sports team, which is "an anomaly in a sport where players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination." The comedy is expected to be released in 2019. The e-sports industry is expected to be valued at $1 billion then, and a movie appearance by Ferrell could improve that.
