Orlando City SC

Orlando City SC's new Orlando City Stadium will open its doors for the 2017 season. But this winter, while putting on the finishing touches, the construction crew audibled away from the original plans.

While most seats are purple -- the club's main color -- the team unveiled 49 seats in rainbow colors in one particular lower-level section of the stadium. The seats, which each include an image of a rainbow heart and #ORLANDOUNITED, honor the 49 people killed in Orlando's Pulse gay nightclub on June 12, 2016.

Pulse and Orlando City Stadium are roughly 2.2 miles away from each other. Orlando City SC President Philip Rawlins teased the seats while they were under construction in November.

The NBA's Orlando Magic are Orlando's only team participating in one of the four traditional major American sports leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL). However, Orlando City SC has captivated the city in just two full seasons. In 2016, while playing at Camping World Stadium, the club finished second in attendance with an average of 31,324 fans per game. Orlando City Stadium, which will also host the Orlando Pride of the NWSL, is expected to hold 25,500 at standard capacity.
