Hundreds of fans lined up at dawn in freezing temperatures just for the chance to buy one. On-the-fly entrepreneurs discovered they could charge triple the retail price. Aggressive eBay bidders fueled the frenzy. Back at the 2002 Olympics, the hottest item in Salt Lake City wasn't a ticket to a marquee event like figure skating or hockey.

It was the official Team USA beret by Roots (a Canadian company).

Four Winter Olympiads later, figure skating icon Michelle Kwan still has her beret. In fact, Kwan, the five-time world champion who captured a bronze in Salt Lake, has a lot more than one. Watch the video above for details.
