Keith Tkachuk was the first-round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 1990. He went 19th overall and ended up scoring 538 NHL goals.
His son, Matthew, is a left winger like his dad, and he is projected to be an even higher draft selection. The younger Tkachuk was among five prospects that the NHL trotted out to the media during the Stanley Cup Final in San Jose.
And like his father, Matthew could begin his career in Canada. Winnipeg holds the second overall pick. After Columbus picks third, the next three in the draft order are Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary. Arizona is seventh, and Matthew was born in Scottsdale while Keith played for the Coyotes.
Matthew grew up in St. Louis where Keith played nearly the rest of his career.
