May 15, 1998: The Los Angeles Dodgers trade star catcher Mike Piazza to the Florida Marlins for Gary Sheffield, Bobby Bonilla, Charles Johnson, Jim Eisenreich and Manuel Barrios.

For the Dodgers, they lost the player that hit 208 home runs in seven years with the team. However, he was unhappy with the deal and his contract was ending.

For the Marlins, they never intended to keep Piazza. In fact, they dealt him to the New York Mets for Preston Wilson, Geoff Goetz and Ed Yarnall. He made the World Series just two years later, where this happened.

The Dodgers did get some production from the former Marlins, especially Sheffield. He hit 129 home runs in less than four seasons with the team.
