The Cubs are young. Names like Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Addison Russell have not been around that long.

The North Siders play like youth. They are exciting and have fun. And they have snack time.

There is Rizzo passing out orange slices to the Cubs like it is a Little League game. Maybe he was just nostalgic after watching the Little League World Series for two weeks.

Of course Joe Maddon takes an orange slice like a volunteer Little League coach happy to mentor some kids. If Billy Martin let something like this happen in the 1970s, George Steinbrenner would have exiled him from New York City.

Rizzo hit his 27th home run of the season, but the Cubs lost the Wednesday matinee to the Reds, 7-4. In other news, the Cubs went 19-9 in August, have a 6.5 games lead for the National League's final Wild Card berth, and at 75-57, the team already has its highest win total since 2010 when it went 75-87. Barring a 30-game losing streak, the Cubs should do better than that in 2015.

Rizzo is also batting .282 with 79 RBI, putting him in the NL MVP conversation. Maddon is a favorite for NL Manager of the Year. Bryant is the frontrunner for the NL Rookie of the Year Award with an average of .269, 22 home runs and 84 RBI.

The Cubs are chasing their first postseason appearance since 2008. Maddon's first year has been sweet like citrus.
